Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea (or Sleep Apnoea) is a sleeping disorder that is unfortunately quite common. It is characterised by shallow or paused breathing during sleep. As breathing resumes, snorting, choking, and snoring can all be common indicators of the condition.

While Sleep Apnea affects many people, the risk of getting Sleep Apnea include being male, over 40 years of age, having sinus problems, a deviated septum, small jaw bone or allergies to name a few. Having Sleep Apnea can lead to more serious medical issues.

Thomas Road Dental Services has helped many people reduce the impact that Sleep Apnea has on people’s lives and offers several treatments for the condition. If you or someone you know is suffering from Sleep Apnea, please do not hesitate to call us.

Are you, your partner or child snorers? Snoring is often a symptom of Sleep Apnea which goes undiagnosed in many adults. If your child snores it is important to get them seen to, as snoring often leads to jaw and dental problems.

As your child is still developing they can bring these poor oral habits into adulthood where they are harder to treat. It is always best to get children early with simple interceptive procedures.

If you or your child snores, feel free to contact Thompson Road Dental Services. Our friendly dental clinic can assist to reduce snoring and the issues that arise from it.
