Exercising at home can be tough during lock-down, but physical activity is important for health, and it helps to boost your immune system, reduces stress and improves mood. When you exercise, it releases endorphins or feelgood hormones, and exercising helps you sleep more soundly.
Take It Outside
Getting some fresh air and sunshine will automatically make you feel better, so take a brisk walk or jog, maintaining a safe difference from others. If you have a garden, it’s the ideal time to get in some yard work ready for spring and summer.
Make it Social
If you are in lock-down with others, get them involved in exercising with you and make it a social activity. Play games or dance with your kids.
If you are in lock-down on your own or live with people who don’t want to exercise, look for virtual sessions and classes online. Many gyms are now offering this service. Alternatively, YouTube has loads of free workouts, or there are lots of apps with workouts and routines to follow.
Make a workout schedule and try to stick to this routine. Fitness trackers or journalling will help you keep track of your progress and can be a great way to give yourself an emotional boost to exercise regularly.
