Brushing Without a Toothbrush: What to Do If You’ve Forgotten Your Toothbrush

dec 3a - Brushing Without a Toothbrush: What to Do If You’ve Forgotten Your Toothbrush

We have all forgotten to pack essential items when travelling, but if you forget your toothbrush there are alternatives to try, just until you can get a proper toothbrush!

Use a Paper Towel or Washcloth

Squeeze a dab of toothpaste (if you have some) onto a damp paper towel or washcloth and wrap it around your finger. Use it as if it were a toothbrush, making sure to remove as much plaque as possible from all tooth surfaces. Rinse thoroughly, and if you have dental floss or mouthwash then don’t forget to use them.

Using Your Finger or a Twig

You can use a damp finger, rubbing it across your teeth and gums to remove plaque and food debris. If you are camping, use a green, soft twig from a non-poisonous tree. Fray the end of the twig and use like a toothbrush, taking care not to dig it into your gums.

If you are staying in a hotel, ask at the reception because they will usually provide complimentary toiletries for guests.
